Tripod Mobility is well known for the conversions of all different types of vehicles with a lowered floor in order to make them wheelchair accessible. Our goal is to develop the lowered floor conversion for all models from different manufactures, so that there is a suitable WAV for everyone's different needs. For all the WAV models which we develop we have conversion kits available. These WAV conversions have all the necessary test documents.

Tripod Mobility obtains European Multi-Stage Approval for conversion of Fiat Doblò.

These are exciting times for Tripod Mobility. The car conversion company from the south of Holland ended 2011 by moving to a larger and more modern facility. Tripod's new year has started with a European Multi-Stage Approval for wheelchair modifications for the Fiat Doblò.
This Multi-Stage Approval can best be explained as a Vote of Confidence by Fiat and the Department of Transport (DOT). If a company converts small series of cars for handicap transportation, this normally means that the factory warranty is voided. Furthermore, after such a conversion, vehicle registration will only be issued after inspection by the DOT. There is an exception to this situation, namely the aforementioned Multi-Stage Approval. If the car manufacturer formally expresses its confidence in the conversion as well as the conversion company, the factory warranty will be retained. Additionally the DOT has to provide a type approval for the conversion. This means that vehicle registration will be issued in Europe without further technical inspection.
Large safety-conscious organizations like Fiat and the European Departments of Transport will only grant such a type approval to a company that fully earns their trust. Every detail of the conversion is reviewed, and the company itself is fully screened too. Tripod has been modifying cars for handicap transportation for over 30 years. They consistently produce quality products, as the multi-stage approval by Fiat and the DOT confirms. Tripod has already been granted previous multi-stage approvals by Renault, Peugeot and Citroën.
Tripod supplies their type-approved conversion kits for the Fiat Doblò to a network of licensed European agents. These agents will only be licensed if they exclusively use the kit supplied by Tripod, and if their conversion meets the Tripod-standard. Because of the Multi-Stage Approval, their conversion won't void the factory warranty, and they are also entitled to issue the vehicle registration.

The New Fiat Doblò WAV

We have succeeded in converting the New Fiat Doblò into a wheelchair accassible vehicle with a lowered floor. Because of it's independent wheelsuspension it was a real challange for our technical department to design a sophisticated solution for the lowered floor.
We didn't change the rear suspension, that's why the vehicle could keep its original comfortable driving style and still there is an interior height of 145 cm.
The converted car can be equiped with one or two individual seats on the second row. Also replacing the bench is an option.
Instead of the standard conversion with double folding ramp (130 cm) there is a possibility to install a hydraulic Lowering-system in combination with a short 65 cm ramp.

Tripod is moving

Due to the development of our organization we have outgrown our current location. We will be moving to a new location which will suit the needs of our further developing organization, in which we will be able to provide improved products and services in car conversions. Although the exact date of our move has not been determined, we have a new location for Tripod; Collseweg 10, 5674 TR Nuenen. Our new premises is at approximately two hundred metres from our current location.
